Interpretative Reading Course 8

Hello!! I didn't realize this was my last blog for this semester, so this time we had a mid-projet. We were told to find 2 fiction and non-fiction books, then summarize what the points of the book were, and then proceed to making podcasts.

The content of the podcast is the result of a summary of the two books. I've often heard what a podcast is but have never made a podcast before. This is the first time I've made a podcast, at first I felt overwhelmed and didn't understand but over time I started to get used to it. One thing I can take is don't be afraid of something new, just try it first, it's an experience, but thank God my podcast was successful.

Thank you for reading my blog!!

Interpretative Reading Course 7

Hello, welcome back to my blog!! The material at this meeting is to discuss the main idea. The main idea or main idea is an idea that is the core of a paragraph.

Each paragraph must have a main idea so that the reader knows what the author is trying to convey in his writing. The main idea that is developed again with a more in-depth sentence is called a supporting idea or an explanatory idea.

The combination of the two creates a complete and well-organized paragraph. In one paragraph there will only be one main idea. Now the picture above is the task given to us regarding the main idea, but before doing it our lecturer held a meeting for a few minutes to understand what the main idea was.

I think that all, thank you and see you in the next blog:)

Interpretative Reading Course 6

Hello friends!! At this meeting, we discussed our lecture material on "Topics of Paragraphs". Where a paragraph is a group of sentences that are all about the same thing. That is, they all have the same topic. Lectures at this meeting as usual. We did a virtual learning process using the Teams application. We discussed a little material about “Topics of Paragraphs”. We read carefully two groups of sentences that look like a sentence, then determine whether they are paragraphs or not. And a group of sentences that are paragraphs are sentences that discuss the same thing or the same topic.

After discussing the lecture in the Teams application, we worked on an activity in the form of an exercise given in Syam-ok. This exercise is in the form of recognizing the topic of a paragraph. Where when we read a paragraph, we will think and wonder what the content of the paragraph is. And those questions by reading and knowing the contents of the paragraphs then we can determine which topic is too specific and which one is too general. The next exercise is about Stating the topic of a paragraph. Where we determine what the topic of this paragraph is and make sure It should not be too specific or too general. Next, regarding Finding the topic sentence, where we read each paragraph and underline the topic sentence. Remember, the topic sentence is not always the first sentence in a paragraph, because many paragraphs include a topic sentence that tells the topic of the sentence group.

I think that's all, thank you and see you in the next blog:)

Interpretative Reading Course 5

Hello readers!! We meet again at the 5th meeting in semester 3. This time we will re-enter the activity on the syam.ok page and don't forget to also fill in attendance.  At this meeting we were asked to guess the content of the topic of a discussion, but before that we met first in a meeting on Microsoft Teams. And After the discussion, it was continued by discussing the slides presented by Miss Novy, and the most interesting thing was that suddenly we were asked to work on the assignments given in pdf form in groups, we were asked to find out which one was the best.  Topics in a few words are presented, and are divided into several groups where 1 group consists of 3 people.  This room is in a team, so when we discussed other members who were in the previous room we occupied, we couldn't listen to our room discussion, this was very exciting and quite stressful because we were chasing time.

Okay, for now that's all from me, thank you for reading and see you in the next blog:)

Interpretative Reading Course 4

Hallo!! Today Miss told us all that to do our work, we will try to use one of the features in Microsoft 365, namely Microsoft OneNote. This is so interesting for me, and about any struggles in that platform (Notebook) off course, I do have. But it’s all going clear after our lecturer, Miss Novy made a virtual meeting for us to introduce and explain how to use that platform.

What's interesting for me about this platform is that there are handouts that we can read at any time and also we can edit as we like. In the Notebook, there are not only handouts, but also we can do quizzes or activities or do the same thing as when using the Syam-ok platform.

Speaking of handouts, a few days ago we learn about "Vocabulary Knowledge for Effective Reading”, such as guessing unknown vocabulary and guessing meaning from context in sentences. It’s really helpful because is fast because we don’t interrupt our reading and helps build vocabulary because we are more likely to remember the words. So in the handouts there are explanations and examples regarding using grammar to guess word meaning, recognizing words that connect ideas, synonyms, and summary words.

I think that's all, thank you and see you in the next blog:)

Interpretative Reading Course 3

Halo!! Welcome back with me in my blog. This lesson we learn about Previewing and Predicting. The learning media this time uses LMS Syam.ok. I will explain the difference between Previewing and Predicting.

Preview is a speed reading technique. This technique serves to help readers to assess the level of difficulty of a reading text and how deep the background of the reader's knowledge of a topic being discussed. In addition, in reading with the previewing technique we can also take the essence of an information without having to read the words one by one. While prediction is the ability to expect or predict what will come by utilizing grammatical, logical, and cultural clues. Before reading a book, we usually estimate the contents of the book from the cover image or from the title, then we read the abstract on the back cover of the book.

That's all for my blog this time. Thank you and see you in the next blog:)

Interpretative Reading Course 2

Hello friends, today as usual, I will tell you what I have learned in interpretive reading lectures.

I opened sham ok and filled out the attendance list. after that I see there is a quiz task that must be completed. Before taking the quiz, I read the material first. And the material this time is SCANNING. I often hear the word scan, but I don't really understand what the word scan means. And after reading and understanding the material, I now know what scanning means.

After understanding what scanning is, I continue to work on the quiz given. This quiz takes time, so we have to work on this quiz very carefully considering the time is very little.

After doing the scanning task, I think some are easy and some are difficult, for example when doing scanning tasks for the Atomic Weight Table. here I really have to be observant in looking for answers because it contains a lot of lists and it takes time to find answers to each question. and especially if the scanning task is not in the form of a table list but in the form of an article, it will take time to find the right answer.

So that's it for today's blog, see you in the next blog.
